Trendy Korean Foods in the Philippines

Korea’s food are the one of the most famous foods in Asia. It’s influence when it comes to food has spread like wild fire. It’s like the foods in Korea are mouth-watery foods and all started from YouTube. It’s called “Mukbang Videos” which are videos that consists of people eating. But most mukbang videos are more on Korean foods. This is the main factor that promoted Korean foods that became a trend in most Asian foods. In the Philippines the most common cravings of people are most likely be a Korean food. What every Filipino wants that are trendy this days is that they want “Samgyupsal” or “Samgyup” in short. It could also be that they want like fishcakes or desserts like “Bingsu” which is shaved ice that could be compared to the ice scramble of the Philippines. Most Filipinos tend to crave Korean barbecue more than like the Philippine barbecue. Most people specially has a sweet tooth but does not like sweet treats or refreshing desserts tend to crave BIngsu. Let’s see what Samgyupsal and Bingsu has in-store for us.

Samgyupsal or Korean barbecue is a very trendy food place here in the Philippines. Samgyupsal or in short samgyup is a meat based type of food which includes Pork belly’s, Sirloin beef, Ribeye steak and etc. Samgyupsal is considered to be the go to restaurant of meat lovers. It has a very unique style of service because it makes you cook your own meat, like you have to give service to yourself. One of its unique features is that when you eat at a samgyupsal restaurant, IT HAS UNLIMITED MEAT!! So upon entering the restaurant you could either bring a friend or bring yourself in with an empty stomach. But the only down-fall of this restaurant is that It’s not a budget friendly kind of restaurant that ranges from 300 pesos to 600 pesos but in terms of quality of the restaurant, it makes your money worth every cent.

An another influenced food or dessert from Korea is the Bingsu or the Shaved ice in English. It’s not your typical dessert that you’ll savor the taste cause it’s sweet but it has the balance that even adults would enjoy. It’s basic ingredient is just shaved ice, condensed milk and like the flavoring of the chosen flavor. The most ordered flavor of the Bingsu that Korean’s and Filipinos love is the Patbingsu or commonly known as the Red Bean Shaved Ice due to it’s sweet flavor but it could be considered as the most balanced dessert that could ever existed. Its flavor could be also savored and enjoyed by adults as well. The only thing that could be a problem when it comes to Bingsu is that it’s pricey for a dessert, it costs 150 pesos to 300 pesos depending on the size of the Bingsu. So when you are feeling a little hot or craving for something sweet you might want to try a Bingsu to satisfy yourself.

Not only is the samgyup and bingsu the only trendy food in the Philippines. There is also the Samyang noodles which became a challenge here in the Philippines. Its spicier than it looks but when you look at the noodles it is very mouth-watery and crave-worthy.

So Philippines has been influenced by Korea’s food taste which every Filipinos nowadays enjoy. It is a great way of showing support to like their culture and stuff. Almost every food that enters our mouths are like heaven, every inch is worth it. Food will always be worth it.
